Vote Chess: How To and Rules

Hi everyone!

Vote Chess is an amazing club event which is not only very fun, but also educational.

We have been playing Vote Chess in the Pickle Jar for some time now. The purpose of this announcement is to explain what Vote chess is and how to participate in it for members who haven't played before, and to also establish some rules for all members participating in Vote Chess games.

What is Vote Chess?

Vote Chess, like Daily Matches, is a club vs club event. Unlike Daily Chess matches, Vote Chess is a team event. Every time it is our club's turn, our team spends time discussing with each other what the best move is. After we have decided, we vote for that move.

Vote chess is also a great opportunity to improve our chess skills by learning off of each other!

How to Play Vote Chess

Joining:

You can join any Vote Chess game which is being played, no matter if it just started or if it is 50 moves in. To find our Vote Chess games, go to 'Club Events' at the side bar and look at the 'Current Events'. Click 'more' to see all the club's current events. Join any and as much Vote Chess games you want, but please read the rest of the article, especially the Rules, before doing anything.

How to Discuss Moves:

When it is our team's turn, the first thing we do is to start discussing what move to play. To see the discussion and contribute to it, look at the 'Team (Private)' chat below the Vote Chess board. You will only see this once you have joined the game. In the Team Chat, you can suggest moves or discuss moves which have already been suggested. Communication and teamwork is the key to success!

How to Vote:

Only after the team has reached a final decision, we choose what move to play by voting. Since we each have only 1 vote, that vote should be the team's 'final answer' which was decided on after the discussion. To vote, simply make the move on the chess board.

Important Vote Chess Rules

Vote Chess is a team event, and not an individual game. We should be demonstrating teamwork by discussing together and deciding on a best move together. These rules are necessary to maintain the team aspect of Vote Chess and to increase our success.

  1. No Voting Without Communication
    • Vote Chess is a team event, and all teams rely on communication to function. Please use the Team Chat to discuss our next move. By communicating, we can all find and vote on the best move
    • Even if the move you want has been suggested already, tell us you agree with it!
  2. Never Vote On A Move Which Hasn't Been Discussed!
    • We play as a team, not individuals. If you have a move you want to make, please suggest it to the Team Chat so we can consider it
  3. Do Not Vote Early!
    • Most of our games are 48 hrs per move. NO VOTING until the last 24 hours and after our team has decided on a move
  4. Do Not Vote To Resign Or Offer A Draw
    • Only do this if the whole team makes a final decision to do so
  5. No Cheating

These rules are expected to be followed by all Vote Chess participants. They are meant to increase our Vote Chess success and make the game more enjoyable!

If you would like to try out Vote Chess, please do! Every member is welcome! Let's show our opponents what the Pickle Jar has got!!
