New Tournament 

The World League organizers have announced new tournament addition, the Chess960 World League, which is set to start in 2012. This Random Chess tournament will follow the same rules and guidelines as WL. The registration for the tournament is open with thirty teams already registered. December 15th is the last day to register for this tournament. See which teams have signed up here.

World League Current Issues

Although, it is not final, the WL directors are thinking to continue World League 2012 in Swiss System. They are also debating about the "1 team - 1 round" rule. There is a chance it will change to "1 team - 1 season" rule. There are few forums debating this issue. Do not hesitate to post your suggestions for WL organization. Latest Updates

The last years champions, Team Romania, has been defeated by Team Russia in their round four match. In this giant match, total of 560 players played to defend their side. This great victory gained Russians a strong chance to finish the WL 2011 as the champions. Their undefeated record for 2011 seasonkeeps them at the first position with two more rounds to go.

Team Indonesia are in the third position, giving Team Romania strong hold in second position. Team Germany has advanced to fourth position pushing Team Iran down to fifth position. Team England, 2009 Champions, have moved up from ninth position to sixth, moving Team Bosnia-Herzeg. to the seventh position. 

Team Croatia, also undefeated, holds the top position in Div. B. Team Slovakia and Team USA: NW have advanced one position up holding second and third positions respectively. Team Finland and Team Brazil has advanced six position up, where Finland moved from the eleventh to the fifth position and Brazil from the thirteenth to the seventh potion.

Team Ukraine and Team Azerbaijan are battling to the first place in Div. C. Team Ukraine is currently holding the first position and with one point difference in tie breaks Team Azerbaijan is following them. Both teams have not been defeated in six rounds yet; however, they are playing a match with each other in round seven. Team Argentina have moved eleven places down, from the second to thirteenth. On the other hand, Team Kazakhstan has advanced from thirteenth to sixth place. Indian Marauders, the second largest team in WL, are still holding the third position.

The Albanians are undefeated in Div. D. Team Moldova have moved up one place, from third to second. Team Syria have advanced from fifth place to third. Team Austria went from second to seventh place. Team Nigeria is dominatingDiv. E, followed by Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Schweiz-Suisse-Svizzera who are representing Switzerland have advanced to the third place from fourth place.

These results, which were updated before November fifth, are based on the six round. There are two more rounds left. Round Seven has already begun.

Participation

Over all the team match participation in round six has increased from round five. Division D had a dramatic loss in participation, even division E topped them. Div. E had 38 more participants than Div. D while Div. D has four more teams participating than Div. E. Below are the number of players that are participating in rounds 4-6. The numbers in parentheses indicate the change in participation from the previous round.

World Cup (Vote Chess National Tournament)

Current Updates

World Cup 2010 is at its final stage. Four finalists, Team Canada, Team Catalonia, Team Italia, and Team Slovakia, are competing for the champion title. The game between Team Italia and Team Slovakia is at its fifteenth move. You can view the game from below:

Upcoming World Cup 2012/13

The tournament is set to start on January, 2012 and end by the end of 2013. During the year 2012, the stage one and stage two are planned to take place with game setting being one day per move. The final stage will take place during 2013 with two days per move, while the next season's stage one and stage two take place. There are 48 teams that have registered.  Four teams from Africa, five teams from Americas, thirteen teams from Asia/Australia/Oceania and twenty six from Europe.
