For many years I've been studing (off and on), how the brain works and how to improve it. So if I find new information than I read it.

Chess happens to be one of the only games that scientists have been studing to see what effect it has on the mind. There conclusions are quite fantastic because it's one of the few games that involves both sides of the brain at the same time as is noted here.

Just one quote from the above link: ... An experimental group showed a significant advancement in spatial, numerical and administrative-directional abilities, along with verbal aptitudes. The improvements held true regardless of the final chess skill level attained.

The things mentioned in the artical are from both sides of the brain. The left side is all about lodgic and data. The right side is all about color, emotion and problem solving. You won't be a good chess player if you are too emotional and forget about lodgic. Infact without lodgic, - problem solving is just pure fantasy. Therefore many times you must not let your emotions get in the way.
