Chess as combat
Chess involves openings to gain control, as well as, tactics, strategy, traps, attacks, spears, deflections, and a host of other maneuvers both offensive and defensive in nature. In this way, chess is the parallel of combat, battle , or some might say war, but without the sacrifice of human soldiers. There is the thrill and drive to dominant so much so that some of our competitors cannot keep a civil tongue in their mouths. Chess is the tug and pull; the hit and be hit an endless struggle from game to game on the 64 square board with 16 pieces each to the win: lose: draw. Remember win some and lose the vast majority.
