Hello, guys! And today i want do demonstrate for you technic called "indirect defence". Let's see what kind of "beast" it is with an example of my game played against an opponent rated about 1600 here on chess.com.

So, what can we learn from this game?

Here i could defend this c4 pawn directly with Qd3 but its much better to push b4 achieving my strategical goal, push knight back and setting trap for my opponent. And he actually fall right into this trap. There is an expression which nicely describe this method of indirect defence:"The threat is stronger than execution!"

Use this method in your games! Set traps for your opponents and win games! I hope you liked my example.
