My chess variation: KING VS. QUEEN
Hello, today I would like to introduce to you a chess variation that I created myself. This variation is called
KING VS. QUEEN ![]()
• Pieces and positions: In this variation, the pieces will be slightly changed. As the name suggests, this will be a variation where one side only has the King (white side) and the other side only has the Queen (black side). Other pieces such as Pawns, Rooks, Knights, and Bishops will remain the same for both sides and all pieces will stand in their correct positions.

• How to play: The white piece goes first; the movement of the pieces is normal.
• Rules:
- Basic rules: When playing this variation, the white player will win when the total number of black pieces he has captured has a total score of ≥10 or the black player surrenders. Conversely, the black player will win when he checkmates the white player or the white player surrenders. The game will be drawn based on the same draw conditions as in normal play (e.g. draw by request, insufficient pieces, no legal moves, 50-move rule, etc.).
- Special rules:
+ Castling move: Only the side with the King (white side) can make this move.
+ Capture the pawn across the road: Both sides can make this move.
+ Promotion move: When the black pawn moves to the last row (row 1), it can be promoted to one of the three pieces Rook, Knight, or Bishop and cannot be promoted to Queen, so the black player should keep the Queen carefully. For the white pieces, when the pawn moves to the last row (row 8), the white player will have 2 options:
1. Promote to one of the three pieces Rook, Knight, or Bishop; cannot be promoted to Queen.
2. Switch positions with the white King, but on the condition that the white King cannot be on the 1st and 8th ranks because when switching positions, the pawns are not allowed to be on those two ranks.
Bonus: If you want, you can apply the time factor when playing this variation. You can teach and play this chess variation with your family or friends. Have fun.
Goodbye!
