My First Chess Set

My First Chess Set

Last monday I received a chess set as birthday present. I got into chess more less in August, 2018. Since then, I have been ocasionally watching videos and learning some interesting things about chess. I must tell, I am more interested in the complexity of this beautiful game and its history than becoming a good player. Of course I like to play chess, but I have never felt like I want to learn theory (openings and that stuff) or principles of the game, it is its dynamics what calls my attention (from chess). Nonetheless, now that I have this chess set, I'm starting to feel different about chess, I don't know why but it is definitely a different thing to play chess online than "OTB". And I would say it is a better way to play it, because the touch feeling and having your opponent in front of you, makes chess more enjoyable, at least that is my opinion. Anyways, there are some things I had to get used to, like paying real attention to the clock (at the beginning I constantly forgot to hit the clock because here in chess.com it is automatic) or be more sharp-sighted in order to avoid hanging pieces (I found easier to hang a piece in "OTB" chess).

I don't know how other people experienced playing chess in a physical board for the very first time, but I enjoyed very much. I think it is very likely that I will keep playing -by far- more games in chess.com than in my new board, mostly due to the lack of opponents, but I seriously recommend people to acquire a chess set even if they won't have many chances to play games face-to-face. If you enjoy chess, it will never be a bad idea to buy some true physical pieces, the board, I don't know, it's just a different feeling.

Well, as you can see, here I wanted to share with you my experience playing for the first time with a chess set, specially considering I started playing online. I sincerely hope you reading this have a nice day/night, and please don't stop playing chess grin.png
