Why are draws so popular at the high-level?

Have you ever leaned into your computer anxious to see who will win Titled Tuesday? Or grabbed a bunch of popcorn ready to watch a rapid tournament with the strongest GM's in the the final round? Then they draw before move 20 either by agreement or in tournaments where a certain move goal is needed (usually 40) they repeat moves.

Where?

Will first of all there have been a BUNCH of situations in Titled Tuesday where they draw I think @gmhess has seen a couple more then the normal human. It has also been played in rapid or classical tournaments too.

Why don't I like it?

Okay so first of all 0 ( a big fat zero) for entertainment purposes. Also let me put this out do you like when people draw in the first 20 moves ? There is no fun and you can't learn a thing other then great hand-eye coordination since they don't mouseslip doing the same thing 3 times.

What about compared to OTB?

Well personally for me in online chess there are more people which is equal to more draw. It was quick math not to hard. Though in otb with a tournament around 60 players and 30 games lets say. I could argue for a reserve section there would be 20-25 decisive results. Compared to an open section with 30 boards maybe 15-20 decisive results.

Conclusion

I know this blog was a bit short but I am here to emphasis on something and hopefully you understood what. I feel higher rated players have draws more often and some real quick ones which can be a disappointment. As always make sure to follow me.
