Hello there, everyone! I hope your chess game is going well. Today, I've decided to show you an incredible game that Emanuel Lasker played in 1889. This game is a fantastic example of middlegame play and demonstrates the strength of two bishops. This is the first time in history when Lasker had discovered such a sacrifice. Because this is an old game, no opening theory was already developed, but the strategical aspect was fantastic.

As you may recall from previous writings, I mostly share the first puzzles based on critical moments in the game, followed by the full game with annotations. So, try to solve the puzzles first to test your handling of critical moments, and only after that check the commented game!

1. After b3, how should black develop ?

2. White just played Nf3. How should black play here?

3. White just played Ne2?. How can black take advantage of this mistake?

4. Find the killer move which black missed here?

5. Black just played Nxh5 blunder. How can white finish the game?

6. White should hurry up now. Guess what white found after 17.. Kg8.

7. Now black is okay if he can preserve all his pieces but white's next move was a winning tactical idea.

8. White just played Rf3? Can black defend this position?

I hope everyone had a good time going through the above critical moments. Now it's time for the game with commentary.

I hope you loved this game too. As I already stated, this is a strategic game, so please concentrate on the strategic aspects rather than the openinghappy.png
