Anastasias mate! [ only for white ]
Your secret weapon, a knight on e7.
Some of the best chess players fall for this mate. The name is Anastasias mate inspired by a novel Anastasia und das Schachspiel by William Heinse it was published in 1903.
The Key Components To This Trap Are:
A white knight on the E7 square;
A black pawn on G7; and
A black king on the H8 square.
This formation has a particular hidden danger for the defender [ BTW this mate actually sometimes come from checks you think are just normal, this may oppose a saying which is don't check when you can ]. The knight on the E7 takes away 2 squares which the king can flee to - G8 - G6 - So If white can arrange check on the H file [ best done with queen or rook ] you can mate black!
Please tell me your favourite checkmates in the comments below. I will be posting more so maybe I can use one of yours. Thank You.
