Hello everybody, i wanted to talk about a thing that im suprised many people still doesn't know how to counter the damiano defense. I rarely play against opponents that use the damiano defense. But atleast if you do encounter an opponent that uses it, you will get some free elo! There are many variations to the counter of damiano defense, and i back then only have known 3 lines, but after experimenting with the board a bit i found 3 new lines that all leads to checkmate. So i will tell you about those five lines right now:
1.if king blocks with pawn
In the counter EVERY LINE will include the sacrifice of the knight to open up the King side. And then start an attack with the queen, and if the king blocks the queen check with a pawn, you will win a free rook! As shown below
2.If king doesn't block with pawn
If the King doesn't block with a pawn you can "escort" the king out of his kingdom. And from this position there can be three variations that can occur which is will explain later. As shown below
3.if king runs away
If the King runs away from our queen, then it will be checkmate! Doesn't matter if he goes one way or the other, its still checkmate! As shown below
4.if black moves d pawn
If black tries to neutralize the threat by "sneak ily" attacking the queen and giving a pawn to trade queens like shown below, you can counter the counter and win the queen AND the rook! As shown below
5.if black develops the bishop
If black "tries" to prevent the King and queen fork then you can....... Checkmate the king again! As shown below
6.If black developes the knight
If black developer the knight like nothing happened, then you can once again checkmate as shown below!

I had so much fun analyzing the board sering the possibilities that can happen and sering if there is checkmate around, without using an engine.
