Hey guys, and whats up. This is my first blog and I thought my first blog series should be on basic checkmates, the first one being King and Queen vs. King.
You want to force the opponent's king into the corner of the board. How should you do this? You should do this by making sure the your Queen and your opponent's King are a knight's move's distance away. Except for when their King is in the corner.
In the position where the Black king is in the corner of the board, you do not want to be a knight's move away because that would be stalemate. Instead, you want to bring your king into the mating net, per se, and deliver checkmate. You don't have to worry about stalemate, because the king will always have 1 square to go to. If you can, keep some of Black's pawns on the board and make sure they have moves. Why? Well, then you don't have to worry about stalemate!
This has been a pleasure to make. Akhil Giddaluri, @ your service. I make weekly blog posts. THANKS FOR READING!! SEE YOU NEXT TIME. THE NEXT POST WILL BE ON 2 ROOKS/2 QUEENS CHECKMATE.
Please comment down below your thoughts and advice, as well as what other basic checkmates I should cover.
