USCF Game 29(W): Kindred-Zelner
Game 29 was round 5 and my very first “money” game. It was a bit awkward playing an opponent as young as Greg was at the time. I believe he was 7 or 8 but looked younger. He was rated 1263 at the time and ended up topping out later at 1849. He was very good and had me pressure the whole game until I found a very good move in the endgame which was the winner. The first time I made a really good sublime move in a tournament. I got $480 towards Christmas presents that year. I guess I wanted to savor my 2nd-3rd place finish and not ruin it by playing anytime soon again because I waited 4 years to play again in a USCF tournament.
