Rust vs. Instinct: My First Chess Games in 5 Months
Hello all! Welcome to my blog. I have been really busy with school and all that good stuff, so I have been away for a while. It has been over 4 months since I have played a rapid game, so I decided to play 3 games and see how well I would do.
Disclaimer: I played these games a few months back and never had time to post this until now.
It turned out way better than I expected! I was actually able to win a game. Mind-blowing, I know. Without further ado, I give you my first game.
Game 1
First rapid game since November 2024. Man, it's been a long time. I must say, I am pretty rusty, to the point where I forgot to study and look at my position. All this considered, how will I do?
All right! Not too shabby for my first game back. Sure, it could have been better -way better-, but a win is a win. At first, I thought I was dead. Guess I was lucky, and it evened out. Combine this with a few crucial mistakes, and you get a win!
I got my confidence boosted after this game. It's like the same way when I find out that I actually did well on a test when I thought I failed it. You know what I mean?
My takeaways from this game are: pay attention, take my time, and be confident (taking advice from Lady Gaga).
Confidence is key, if you don't have it, fake it!

Let's go on to the next game.
Game 2
Yoo, let's gooo! Easy win!! Only a few mistakes by me, and with the help of my opponent's many mistakes, I was able to place another stone on my path towards returning to chess!
I think I am getting the hang of chess again. Possible future GM????!!?!?!??!?! Nah. However, I am actually motivated to learn chess. This is like the first time I have ever been this motivated, if I was actually ever motivated.
Game 3

No, I wouldn't. Alright! I present to you the last and final game:
Phew. Give me a second, I gotta wipe the blood, sweat, and tears off my face. Now that is what I call a close call!
I talked to @CyberChessFox after the game. He said that he mis/clicked and how would have won the game.
Laughable, ain't it?
Ok, he might have won, but you know me. I never cease to bring home a win, right... But, I won all three games!!! YIPEEEE!!!! And I finally reached a 1000 ELO rating. It's the first time, so at least I accomplished something with all of this.
Conclusion
I must say, I did pretty well for such a long break. I won all three games. I finally got above a 1000 Chess.com ELO. Will I return to chess? Probably not. Too many 5-year-olds that are try-hards and sweat at the game. If I did try, I would decimate all of them. I wouldn't want to do that now.
So, what is next for me? Honestly, no clue. I will probably just keep writing blogs, not play chess. Way less stressful than playing chess. I might play every now and then, just to remember how to play.
Thanks for reading! Catch you in the next one.
Help Wanted
Hey! If you are reading this, then thanks! For my next blog, I want to use you, yes YOU, to help me with a study I am doing. It is a bout music and chess. If you can spare some time and play 3 games of chess and help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
All the instructions are in this form.
