Knight moves (or not)
From my game with white against Northern Ireland. It's my 24th move and I'm weighing my options for a kingside attack.
F4!!
In this position I can pour some salt in my opponent's wound on d6, but how do I add some pepper? Before rubbing my hooves in it, I launch an f-pawn attack which he fails to parry, and swizzle my Queen over to threaten winning a pawn on one side of the board and mate on the other.
When he takes the pawn threat more seriously I am able to execute a lethal tactic on the newly opened a-file. Note that at the beginning of the operation I had to avoid the temptation to play en passant!
In conclusion, the double exclam is a bit much, but I gave myself one for the right idea and one for restraint. It's all well and good to go to the outpost on d6, but I won't accomplish much grazing there without any other sticks in the fire.
The lid really comes off his position when he cracks loose with g6 and b5.
