Panchenko Memorial 2021, Day 3: Sacrifice that did (not) work.
Hi everyone! ![]()
I am sharing with you the game of the third round, as there is nothing more to share ![]()
My cough is killing me. I can not walk around the city, because I’m afraid I’ll get even more ill. Therefore, I have to only study/play chess, or wander around the shopping center, which is also not bad in my case
.
Back to chess. After the game was finished, I had the impression that it was not my opponent who beat me, but that I myself lost that game. Do you know what I mean?! Nobody forced me to go for a certain variation. I decided to trust my intuition and sacrifice a whole Rook in the remaining time. In my entire chess career, I've probably sacrificed pieces only a couple of times. And even if I did it, I was 200% sure that it would work.
The most interesting thing is that the sacrifice would have worked if I had played it in a bit different way. Let me show you how it was.
I was a little upset after the game, but when I found out that my sacrifice was justified, the game didn't seem so bad.
This, perhaps, is all for today. I am sharing with you a few photos of the past day.
Thank you very much for reading and see you in my next blog post! ![]()
