Hi everyone!

It is the 7th of July and first of all I'd like to wish my Mom WIM Irina Ostry a very Happy Birthday!!! She is rooting for me from Bishkek and not going to sleep till 2AM every day waiting for news about my games.

Tromso Olympiad 2014

I was planning to publish this blog post yesterday evening, but felt really sad after the second game (which I lost). There was also a "bug incident" in my hotel room in the evening. I'll tell a few words about it a bit later in this post.

It was a busy day in terms of chess, since we had two rounds. I didn't go anywhere, didn't take any photos and mainly stayed in the hotel room to save some energy.

The first game (Round 6) went very well. I played against a chess player from Serbia Bajic Petar (ELO 1874). It was one of those rare games where I sacrificed some material and almost checkmated my opponent (he resigned one move before the checkmate).

Here is the game from Round 6:

In the Round 7 I played against Tomic Jelena from Bosnia and Herzegovina (ELO 1919). I had a very good opening and all chances to win the game. But something went wrong at some point... Here how it was:

I think almost in all open tournaments I have games like this one - a game that leaves a feeling of disappointment... But what to do?! This is impossible to avoid. How do you deal with hurtful defeats?

Back at the hotel, after having some rest I decided to analyze my games and then "a bug incident" happened . I made a "blunder" and opened a window to let some fresh air in. The light from my room attracted local fauna and as you already understood I'm not a big fan of bugs, insects in general. But all ended well. After 1 hour or so the bug flew away and hopefully he will never come back (Pics are below).

Thank you very much to everyone for reading and rooting for me. See you in my next blog post!
