Weekly Tournament Blog #33
Welcome to the 33rd Tourney Blog! Today I'll be talking and walking you through my 3 games I played OTB. There's nice weather today, so I decided to do the blog outside.
Ok, lets get started with game 1 out of 3:
And of course, my notation is messed up just after 13 moves. So I was down the exchange, and my opponent defended against my attack to the queenside king, so I basically was losing. At least 6 people where watching me, and I was down to my last 3 minutes on time. So I was losing in the position and on time. But something miraculous happened. My opponent was also low on time, and she made a huge mistake. It was king+pawn vs king+pawn. She moved her king too far from the pawn, causing my king to advance and take it. So I was winning, and everyone watching was impressed. Then, I drew cause I was low on time and unable to calculate for 30 seconds or more.
So after that close call, I lost the second game attempting the Englund Gambit. But somehow I messed up the 22 move game. So I did play the Englund Gambit, but the results were bad. So I was ahead by 2 pawns, but my opponent got a fork and won my rook. Then, he threatened mate on a squares, so it was undefendable.
I drew game 3, and honestly I was trying to avoid a 2nd loss. So I was about 30 moves long, and here's what happened. I played the Italian Game against the opponent. I was doing well until he got a pawn and a better structure. Now if I lost, I'd lose rating. A draw caused rating loss, but not as much.
