Opening Bomb Diary #18: A Nuke in the Two Knights Defense

The academic semester is over, which means I now have more spare time to write about my opening discoveries.

The problem with finding opening bombs is that I get inspired by an opening too easily. I'll uncover a nuke in the Nimzo-Indian and will suddenly have an urge to check thirty other critical lines, or I'll find a few surreal novelties in the French Defense (which is nowhere near as bad as they say, but more on that later ), and will be inspired to try and construct the most futuristic French repertoire I can imagine.

However, for some reason I could never stomach 1.e4 e5. Top-tier openings such as the Italian, Berlin, Marshall, Archangel, never seemed to hold my interest for long. This might say something about my shortcomings as a player, but it also means I can give away this terrifying bomb in the Two Knights Defense:

The Bomb:

Hope you enjoyed the idea and get the chance to uncork it. It's crazy to think this sacrifice escaped analysts' attention for well over one hundred years and one hundred games, which is just so inspiring to me. If only I had an 1.e4 e5 opening to use it with!
