Teaching and losing.

Spent about an hour today teach my daughter the basics of chess and playing with her.   She's picking it up pretty readily, and refuses to let me suggest moves to her or to play any basic exercises.   We played two games,  and would have played three except that sometime during the second game, we lost a black knight.    I mean, this thing has vaporized - no where on the table, not on the floor around the table, not by the fish tank, not on kitchen ounter.   It is GONE.

Which is pretty pathetic, since I only bought the chess set yesterday.    I'm sure the knight will turn up, unless the dog ate it,  but it's a little disheartening.

I decided to go ahead and register for the monthly open up at the mall.   I expect I'll get walloped, but it'll be fun,  and it'll help me start getting my USCF rating established.
