I've been collecting Petrosian related books this year and thought I'd blog about some of them in case it's useful to anyone else. I wanted to note somewhere that these two books by P. H. Clarke, 'Tigran Petrosian Master of Defence' and 'Petrosian's Best Games of Chess' are the same book. I suspected they were and I got one of them cheap so it isn't a problem for me but thought I'd note it in case anyone else is ever trying to figure out if they are the same book. They are!

They cover (selected games) up to and including 4 from his world championship match with Botvinnik in 1963.

'Petrosian's Best Games of Chess' was published in 1964, so right after the end of the period covered by the book.

'Tigran Petrosian Master of Defence' (or the edition I have) mentions it was first published in 1964 by G. Bell & Sons (who were the publisher of 'Petrosian's Best Games of Chess') but then it says it was reprinted 1971 and 1973 and first published by Batsford in 1992. So I think the book was originally called 'Petrosian's Best Games of Chess' but then either from the 1970s reprints or definitely by the point Batsford started publishing it in 1992, it was renamed 'Tigran Petrosian Master of Defence'. Anyway there we go, maybe that'll be useful for someone some day!

Will mainly be blogging about Tigran (V.) Petrosian, World Champion 1963-69, as I learn more about him.
