Brings back some sweet memories as the traditional folding is almost extinct – found this at the House of Staunton. The boards are available in 2.375-inch square, without notation or 2.25 with. Unlike the vinyl boards, these come in the standard color.

TCT comes in 2 volumes (volume 3 is available for download only). Comprised of 5 training programs + a chunk of puzzles + several Engines that includes Crafty and Shredder. Lessons seem comprehensive enough (as in club level). A product of Chess Assistant, this software is multilingual. Reviews available from Amazon as well.

NOTE: Does not run on Vista!

A l’ttle bit on the tall side; the Algerian Staunton King is over *4.0" inches (including the tiny crown) with a 1.875" base (goes well the 2.375" board). At 3.6 oz. it has a great feel. Total set weight = slightly less than 4 lbs. And unlike the fierce Hastings Knight, this one is well portioned.

*The standard is about 3.75"
