Hello everyone and welcome back to another blog of mine. Today I am going to share my top 7 picks for 1.d4. So let's start!!

7) The Benoni System
Sorry Benoni lovers but an offbeat system and a gambit might not a good choice but a special choice when it comes to secret opening preparations. Here is one of my favorite games where black played Benoni and hope you enjoy it.
6)The Dutch Defense
This opening is a solid reply for black but in my perspective, if white is not prepared then black has his opening advantage but there are various replies for the dutch and is mostly better for white. Although it is not a bluff it can be added to your repertoire.

5) The Queens Gambit Accepted
This is an opening that is a perfect surprise for your opponent who is a proper d4 person. Mostly this opening is left out by white because this is uncommon is high levels but this is a really good surprise weapon especially when your opponent is unprepared his chances are completely low.

4)The Grunfeld
I am sorry for the people who were expecting Grunfeld in the top 3 but I must say it was close. Although the opening is aggressive and gives a good chance to win for black, white gains space advantage and the center as well and when a player is well prepared against Grunfeld it is hard to get the expected result in the game.
3)Kings Indian Defense
This is an opening that is popular and is one of the standard openings against the d4 c4 system although black loses the center, it's an attack on the king's side compromises for the lost center and is recently becoming popular although white gets a comfortable game if prepared.
2)The Slav Defense
This is a super solid opening that is closed sometimes and opens too! In this opening, then black tries to get the maximum out of his pieces and his pawn structure. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a standard and solid opening against 1.d4
Honorable Mention
The Nimzo Indian
This opening did not miss the list but just did not have the right place in the list although this list had all kinds of opening the place I wanted to give did not satisfy me hence I made a special mention for it. Let's look at one of its games.
Now the reveal for the 1st place

1) The Queens Gambit Declined
Yes, you guessed it right the super solid opening is a top choice at the top level for a safe and sound opening against d4. In this opening black mainly focuses on its solid pawn structure and is mostly safe in all its variation. It is also my top recommendation due to the limited amount of theory concerning its capability.
So hope you liked my ranking and I would love your comments about this blog. I hope you stay safe and see you on another blog. Thank You for reading till here!
