I am Donovan Aris Rush. I decided late in life to learn and play Chess. I've accomplished goals in my many hobbies and sports over the years. However, maybe I have bitten off more than I can for this one. Besides Triathlons, Swimming, Rubik's Cube, and some other things, I've been able to go after what I want.

✔ I learned to play and took lessons in Pocket Billiards. I decided I wanted to win some tournaments.

✔ I picked up Disc Golf and loved it. So, I decided I needed a Guinness World Record for the most disc golf holes played in 24 hours and won a local tournament in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of TX.

✔  I wanted to start a YouTube Channel and get monetized. Once I made that happen, I was ready for something new.

It seems crazy that I decided to learn Chess this year. I maybe played a few games when I was younger, but it seemed too difficult. I thought it was just a game and had no one to teach me things. I mean the books were huge which didn't thrill me at all. I found Chess.com and thought wow I can learn online. I have time to do that. So here I am, a 55-year-old learning chess and the goal of winning a local tournament.

I have to be out of my mind. I realize this is an unlikely goal after watching online tournaments and seeing everyone is so young compared to me. However, I need something else to keep my mind active besides playing disc golf, playing pool, and working on a book that I am not very diligent at making a solid effort on like I should.

So every so often I will try and come here and post my progress. I'll take any advice you can give me. I have played a couple of friends on here and have gotten my first rating, but more on that later. If you got this far, I am humbled that you took your precious time to read this. Thank you so much.
