Lucky Stalemate Art
Introduction
It is too terrible when we lost a winning or drawing game, or drawing a winning game just at a moment.
So how did our opponent do that?
One of the most horrible moment is your opponent being STALEMATED BY YOU when it’s your winning position!
When our opponent has a few pieces,we must pay attention to the crazy stalemating tactical shot.
You can see that stalemate happens very often in the no-master level.
When we are low on time, like 20sec left with no increment, but we have a winning position, our opponent sac all of his pieces and tries to be stalemated, and we just think of how to win or premoving, and suddenly, you’ll see chess.com pops up a new window ‘drawn by stalemate’! and you will be surprised and angry and many other bad feelings like thinking your opponent is ‘too bad’…
And I have many stalemated games, which are both I am stalemated or my opponent.
Yesterday, I have played 6 rapid games and 2 games are resulted as stalemate!
And what's your crazy stalemated game?
Have you been stalemated?
You can share it in the comment.
And, I'd like to share two of my stalemated games yesterday.
The first game
In the first game, I have played very well, until I rushed my two pass pawns in a rook ending, but I only had 20 seconds left. The two pawns are just one move to the promoting square. But in the game, my opponent gives up his rook, I thought he is giving up, but I played too quickly and suddenly, yes, you get it right, stalemate! I can imagine how he laughs happily!
His disgusting move
And I was very happy to take him…
My move

His luck:
The second game
In the second game, I had a losing position, and I thought I should let myself stalemated!
In this position, what’s your idea?
Yes, Kh2 is the best. Because we want our king hiding in the corner. Our opponent goes Rg2+,and we goes for Kh1.
Now our king can’t move, but we still have a rook and an f-pawn that can move.
Our opponent thinks that he should put the bishop on the big diagonal. But he can’t play Bd5 because of our rook, so he plays Bd7, planning to go to c6. We play Re7, getting the rook into the 7th rank. He plays Bc6, preparing for the windmill attack.
What should we do this time?
What is the most tricky move?
Yes, f3!
It’s the last piece we can move except the rook.
So he didn’t see the stalemate trick, and took our f3 pawn!
What should we do now?
We just need to sac the rook with a check, and if he takes us, it’s stalemate!
Rxb7+!!
Beautiful!
If he takes us it’s stalemate, if he runs away we will keep doing the same thing on the 7th rank! And soon it will be a draw!
But how if we goes Re8+ instead of Rxb7+?
The king will run all the way to hide in a no-checking place, and we will lose!
So, what's your funny stalemate trick?
You can share it in the comment
Not only no master players, some masters did stalemate others too!
Look at what I have found!
