Under Pressure - Queen And Pawn Ending
Jan.17, 2022 : On move 20 White sacrificed Bishop and Knight for Rook and 2 Pawns, and nearly 20 moves later gained Bishop and Knight for Rook. That put him 2 Pawns ahead in a Queen and Pawn ending, though none were passed.
When faced with that deficit, there are usually a number of things Black should and should not do :--
- Don't lose another Pawn
(although White had one chance) - Don't swap Queens
- Keep the Queen active
- Look for checks, especially perpetual check
(although White had one chance)In the end, through dreadful time trouble, Black managed to survive.
