The ultimate sacrifice!

With only one move from check mate in a chess game where the looser faced execution the winner laid down His King!

True or untrue? I have not heard of any such game but this illustrates what God did for us. Jesus Christ died on the cross for us. Read one of the Gospels and take note of the cunning brutality that resulted in His death. No joke. It was a premeditated execution of the innocent Man. Both Jesus and the Old Testament foretold it.

Mark 3:6

The Pharisees went out and immediately began conspiring with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.

Matt 12:14

Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against Him, how they might destroy Him

Luke 6:11

But they themselves were filled with rage, and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.

John 5:18

For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

Matt 16:21

From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.

Mark 10:32-34

They were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were fearful. And again He took the twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to happen to Him, 33 saying, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles. 34 They will mock Him and spit on Him, and scourge Him and kill Him, and three days later He will rise again."
