ive become an esports player (real)

A while ago my university hosted an esports tournament and being a very good student that studies and works very hard I decided to sign up (it was free) for smash ultimate singles (because I had no friends to play valorant with), a game I had not played in 6 months and a game I had not played with another human for 1.5 years (married to lv9 CPU).

I began my hard training my playing the game for 20 minutes the night before the tournament and then staying up to 3am playing valorant, the pinnacle of hard work and effort used to prepare myself for the big day tomorrow.

The Big Day rolled around and I was there. I began my day by wandering around and in the event I saw that I saw in chess: nerds. But this was different, I was better than them, I wasn't a nerd. I would prove it by losing my first game and losing in the losers bracket to go back to my dorm and chill.

So what actually happened was in pools I got two straight DC (basically forfeits) and became a boosted player. After waiting for an extra 20 minutes for the rounds to finish , and watching Sean absolutely destroy college students with Faptain Calcon, I had to play a dude named Awxlf. Since I didn't know how the stage bans ro anything really worked, we just agreed to play PS2 all three rounds. He played incineroar and I played banjo, because I find joy in spamming projectiles at my opponent. We had close games, but I won with 2-0. Apparently, nair with a DI backwards will always outrange incineroar's side-b, and i landed way too many of my grenades on him and with random fsmashes I was just able to win, even bringing a whole stock deficit to a win on the first game.

I would like to take a moment, though, to thank my opponent for his sportsmanship because in the second round I made a misinput and SD'd in the first five seconds of the game, and he gave me a homie stock. 10/10 would play again.

So at this point I had won 1 whole game more than I had expected to, and I was happy to lose my next games, but the problem here arises: I was already in the winners finals in my pools, and the top finishes go to Top 32 tomorrow. And in chess terms, I was an 1100 playing against 2000s. I lost my next game against LAW, who played Rob. I tried all three of my characters (banjo, piranha plant, and little mac) but unfortunately I took zero stocks from him in three games (Best of 5). That was OK, though, so I was ready to lose my game in the losers bracket.

However, my losers finals game would be broadcasted to the whole room, as I had to get up on the BIG STAGE with a whole thing projected on the big screen for everyone to show. And this was even worse because my opponent, CJay, played Kazuya and simply zero-to-death'd me for 3 stocks, 3 games each.

I never want to do this again, this was the biggest embarassment of my whole life
