Did you know that video games can actually help kids
learn? Since this is true, video games should be allowed in
the classroom. Video games can help kids practice how to
solve problems and do it quickly, they help kids have a
growth mindset, and they help kids think in the three
dimensions. Video games are so awesome, they help you
learn and they're fun!
First of all, one of the reasons why video games should be
allowed in the classroom is they can help kids solve
problems and do it quickly. According to the article The
Science Behind Gaming, “when kids play role-playing video
games, they can get practice problem-solving…kids learn
to make decisions quickly.” Learning problem solving and
doing it quickly is important in life because there will be a lot
of problems that you will encounter in life that you will have
to do quickly. An example is when you're at the store and
you're having the problem of deciding which of two items
to buy and you have to be somewhere in five minutes. I
think video games are a great learning opportunity.
Next up, another one of the reasons why video games
should be allowed in the classroom is they can help kids
have a growth mindset. According to the passage The
Science Behind Gaming, “video games help kids build
resemblance. In other words, kids fail in video games and
have to try over and over again to beat the level or
achieve a goal.” This means video games help kids have a
growth mindset. Having a growth mindset is a very
important skill in life, because if you give up every single
hard thing you try, you will never achieve anything and not
have a good life. I bet the makers of the video game had
to have a growth mindset too!
The last reason why video games should be allowed in
the classroom is they help kids think in the three dimensions.
According to the text The Science Behind Gaming, “video
games can also help kids think in three dimensions.” Telling
the distance between objects is very important in life. This is
important because if you could only see in two dimensions,
then you might think when you're driving, a slow down sign is
at the same point as a big clif and you might fall off the
edge. Imagine what life would be like if we could only see in
two dimensions like Pacman.
To wrap it all up, video games should be allowed in the
classroom because video games can help kids practice
how to solve problems and do it quickly, they help kids to
have a growth mindset, and they help kids to think in three
dimensions. These reasons clearly state that video games
help kids learn and should be allowed in the classroom
during free time.
