We mentioned this scripture briefly in the last message, but it is in context to many things that we go through - the battle of DISCOURAGEMENT versus ENCOURAGEMENT. The devil constantly seeks to DISCOURAGE, while God constantly seeks to ENCOURAGE. Both words carry a key nugget - COURAGE.
This word, from Joshua 1:6, comes from a Hebrew word which means "to be strong, alert, courageous, brave, stout, bold, solid, hard". When you feel like the impossible is set before you, yet God is commanding you to go forth, how can you do it in your own strength?
I will confess - when I do my country music performances, sometimes I get butterflies before I begin. I am preparing to walk out on stage in front of people who have never seen me before and bare my heart and soul before them in song and dance. Who am I? I am nobody, nothing...Lord, help me be strong. I pray and ask God to be with me. As I go out on stage, He walks with me - the peace of the Lord is there. And the show - it is all for Him and to Him. It is a beautiful gift He gave that I use to bring smiles to people's face and brighten their day.
I am not testifying about the music for my glory - au contraire, I am telling about God, who gave me the gift of song, and how He helps me to do the work that He has commanded me to go forth and do. The task looks impossible - I am not a rich man, BUT I am a MAN OF FAITH. I have faith in Him that the walls of Jericho are going to fall.
In your own life, you may have a dream that God has put in your heart, but it looks impossible to do the thing that God gave you. Trust me - if it were easy, everyone would do it! But God has called YOU to go forth and do what He has commanded you to do. God has promised you that He will be with you. He did not promise that obstacles would not come, but He did promise that He would help you through those obstacles and help you be an overcomer!
