Never, Never Resign. Why? Read this to know.
Do you remember how I said that you should NOT ever resign in the " A surprising strategy: The Bird's opening" Blog?
Well, now I will emphasize on that.
What does resign mean?
Well, it is basically the same thing as forfeiting or floating a white flag.
If I am not supposed to do it, why did Chess.com Put it there?
Well, if you are busy and have to stop in the middle of the game, that is the purpose, so you just don't leave your opponent waiting. It is the same as abort, which is before the 2nd move, and you don't "lose", the game is just played.
I mean, you could use it like you do, but there are certain disadvantages in doing this. We will talk about them in the next section.
Why shouldn't I Resign?
Well, there are several reasons.
Reason # 1: The opponent could stalemate you.
The opponent could mess up and stalemate you. If they start spamming queen promotions, don't resign. This following position will show you why.

Here, the last queen was promoted and now the white king is stalemated.
2. It isn't good sportsmanship
People love practicing checkmates. Winning by checkmate lets them get practice. Plus, they would lose an opportunity to get an achievement.
Don't Resign. You might not lose.
