Ruy Lopez - Delayed Exchange Variation Deferred

Chess is a game of tempo; however, a little patience can sometimes paid big dividends, such as with the Delayed Exchange Variation Deferred.   The opening is also referred to as the Exchange Variation Doubly Deferred, because White's idea is to delay the exchange long enough to give Black time to misplace it's pieces.
