Building a bridge? What was Aron Nimzowitsch talking about? Also learn how to build the bridge from the side, an improvement to Daniel Rensch's video. The Lucena is the most important position to learn.  Many learn but few make the connection to the idea of building a bridge.  Well, Black__Knight is here to connect the dots. Keep it simple, a bridge is used to cross over, not to cover. This position is named after Luis Ramirez de Lucena; however, this position was not mentioned in his chess book dated 1497. The earilist book found to have this maneuver was by Alessandro Salvio dated 1634.
