For over a month, ChessPathways members from around the world battled it out in their quest to become the Blitz Streak Challenge champion - the free-to-enter contest promising glory and prizes to whoever could amass the longest winning streak in online blitz chess! Players of all ratings had an even shot at the title, since the only requirement was to play the games against players of similar rating to yourself!

It came down to the wire, but finally....the results are in! Let's take a look at who are champions are:

Winner #1: David (D0gofch3ss). Streak: 11 games

We actually had a two-way tie for first place, with a whopping 11 game winning streak! I was impressed by this feat and decided to award a prize to both players .

David played some nice attacking chess to work his way to the top. Let's take a look at some of his games below! Unlike in many blog posts, I'll keep the analysis sparse (this *is* blitz after all) - sit back and enjoy!

Winner #1: Rooney (Knightrunner). Streak: 11 games

Rooney amassed an equally impressive 11 game winning streak! Let's take a look at some of the victories he earned along the way, starting with this mating attack against the black king:

But not every game has to be decided with a mating attack. A nice little deflection secured the victory here:

There was also a special prize available for someone who helped the Blitz Streak Challenge grow...and Pierre won this prize by letting the readers of his personal chess blog know about the challenge!

Congratulations to all 3 of our winners - all have earned a $25 gift card and the eternal prestige of knowing they have bested over 1,000 other ChessPathways members to take down a challenge!

If anyone has ideas for what our next challenge should be...don't hesitate to let me know. You never know when a new challenge will begin, so make sure you're signed up (totally free, and takes 5 seconds!) on ChessPathways so you never miss your chance to compete!
