Punish This Common King's Gambit Mistake!

The King's Gambit is a fierce, attacking opening, which is one of the most iconic chess openings. It always leads to a fun game for both sides. However, many King's gambit players do not know what they are doing against the most challenging lines, and thus falter, giving black a free advantage.

After 1.e4 e4 2.f4, I have tried many systems, including 2. Bc5, the Classical Line, 2. d5, the Falkbeer Countergambit, Zilbermints Countergambit and the Adelaide Defense. However, the most testing line in my opinion is 2...exf4!. After 3. Nf3, we play 3...g5!, defending the pawn. Now, most players here play 4. Bc4. This is a respectable move, aiming for the Muzio Gambit. However, after 4...g5, many players play 5. Ne4?. This is a big mistake, but it is often not punished adequately, so we must look at it.

We first must play 5...Qh4+!, taking advantage of the weak e1-h4 diagonal. After 6. Kf1, we play 6...Nc6!. White can take on f7, but after f3, the position becomes very messy, and black has a huge attack.

However, instead of playing 7. Nxf7, white often makes the mistake of 7. Nxg4??. Can you find the winning move?

Black is now up a piece, and has an easy win. Two games of mine are shown below.

That is all. Good luck, and I hope this was useful to you!
