"It’s the unconquerable soul of man, not the nature of the weapon he uses, that insures victory."

This is it… the final match of our lost season.  But, still there is quite a bit at stake here… Don’t believe me?... well, there is…  for example, bragging rights for the Blitz over the Kingfishers…  they drew their first match… Oh, and a little thing called “Who ends up in last place.”…   and, possibly with the worst record in the whole conference.

"America loves a winner, and will not tolerate a loser…”

Yes, the Blitz have fallen out of grace… from their peak of perrenial contender… to the trough of… well… disillusionment.  We  Blitz fans deserve and, yes, demand better.  The Blitz are sorely in need of an attitude adjustment… a radical change in philosophy…  a Backbone!

Let’s help them take a stand starting with this last week of the season… a new face… and a new motto…

"May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't."

Baltimore Kingfishers vs Boston Blitz

White (BAL)

Black (BOS)

GM Niclas Huschenbeth (BAL)

IM Steven Zierk (BOS)

SM Denys Shmelov (BOS)

IM Tegshsuren Enkhbat (BAL)

NM Jared Defibaugh (BAL)

NM Vadim Martirosov (BOS)

NM Daniil Mosiyenko (BOS)

Jeffrey Chang (BAL)

Last week Steven evened his season match with GM Ivanov (1 – 1) with a beautiful Queen ending, and merciless grind.  He will do it again!... 1.e4 e6  (1 – 0) and… "In case of doubt, attack."

Denys also has much at stake… as he and Vadim are competing for Blitz MVP!...  With a win, Denys wraps this up… his current record is (2wins – 5 draws – 1 loss). .. Credit his amazing fighting spirt… He has a draw in the first match with IM Enkhbat… not, this time… he is on a roll 1d4 d5… (1 -  0) Semi-slav?...   “I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight."

I often describe Vadim as the “Stalwart”  member of this team… he is just that… reliable.  His season record (2 wins – 2 draws – 1 loss) put him in the Blitz MVP race, no doubt…  solid, and tough… I expect no less… 1.d4 f5?... (1 – 0)  After his Week 8 rapid destruction ( a 14 move win of a piece) Vadim is set on a violent path… would NM Defibaugh dare the dutch?...  "Attack rapidly, ruthlessly, viciously, without rest, …Keep punching."

Finally, Daniil is back… this is his first appearance this season… and our fourth board is sorely in need of relief.  I’m not sure what he will play, as it’s been a while… let’s say 1.e4 c5… he will draw a fine battle with Mr. Chang (0.5 – 0.5)…
"Success is how you bounce on the bottom."

That’s it from the front… Now, it’s your turn to do your part.  Show up and give the team your support… and, if you can afford it, some money would help.   I will be there… and I will write about it… and you can be part of it.

“…to surrender is as ignoble as it is foolish.”

Oh, I know you know our mystery “quotee”… our attitude adjuster… so to speak.

GO Blitz!!!
