Explaining Mistakes
Hello everyone. I wanted to talk about game mistakes. We all know the feeling. You are playing a live or Daily game and you move without thinking or miss something and you see that you have just opened up your queen!
We've all done that, been there. It's definitely not fun to be playing a good game and then blow the whole thing. It can be upsetting. Let me show you a few examples of simple mistakes.
I played as black for this game.
Take this game for example! Started off well, my opponent played Ng5 which was a big mistake for my opponent. Then my opponent played Bb5+ a fantastic trap. I still can't believe I missed that! But then my opponent made the biggest mistake of the game! My opponent played Bx6+ instead of Rxe4! My opponent could have taken the game! Then I played Qxc6 and set up a nice checkmate, and I couldn't believe that my opponent missed that! They could have stopped my checkmate in one move! But they didn't! We both made bad mistakes, luckily I was able to see an opportunity to Checkmate and I was able to win! It a very interesting good. This of course was a bullet game.
Here I was playing as black.
Another bullet game here! Wow! I can't believe I messed that up! That was just an all-around bad game! I can't believe I accidentally played Qe5! I was trying to play qxe2+! If I wouldn't have played Qe5 I would have had a chance to win! And then I wasn't paying attention because of my big mistake I let my rook get trapped!
I was playing as white for this game.
That game was, er, good? I was doing ok in the beginning but my first big mistake was Qb6. After that, it just went downhill from there. I opened the door on move e6 letting my opponent set up a Checkmate. I know my opponent would do that, but I just couldn't think of any way to escape the trap. Then I made it even easier for my opponent by playing kc8. I moved my king and my opponent had me. This was a bullet game, just wanted to point that out.
In this game, I was playing as white.
Alright! Wow. Not my mistake this time, it was my opponents. Now, what happened? My opponent wasn't paying attention to Qf3 which opened the checkmate, he followed my move with Nxd1 which was one of the big mistakes of the game. I played Qb4 and boom! I won by checkmate. This game was pretty good. I would like to point out that I was down on time, and this was a bullet game.
In this game, I played as black.
For the last game in this blog, I wanted to put one of my chess.com bullet tournament games. This game was crazy! My opponent played very well. The first big mistake was mine, I played Qex3+, and my opponent played Nxg3. My biggest mistake of the game! I can't believe I didn't see my opponent move! My opponent's mistake was to play Rxf6. Looks like we both played well, but my opponent played better.
This is just what happens. Everyone makes mistakes, shoot I have enough bad games to write more blogs with them! It's always fun to play, even when we lose. Don't let losing, or making mistakes upset you. The only time you should be upset about losing is when you're in a tournament with a $1,000 prize. And even then it's not a total loss, it is true what they say: you learn more from losing than you do from winning.
Don't beat yourself up for making simple mistakes, everyone makes mistakes. Think about all the games you have won because your opponent made a mistake. Don't even quit a game because of a mistake, like some of the games in this blog, sometimes you make a mistake and then your opponent makes a bigger one. Never give up, never show defeat.
See y'all next time!
