How Do You Use Chess?
Kanda a weird question right? You're probably thinking that I mean " How do you play chess". But I mean use. And I will explain what I mean in a moment, but for now, you may make fun of me.
Right, How Do You Use Chess?
A very interesting question... But quite simple when you think about it.
I want to explain the different reasons people play chess.
People play for several different reasons, for most, it is a hobby, for others, it's a way to destress after a hard day at work, or school.
To a handful of people, it's a career, like this guy!
To be honest, most of us just aren't good enough to make money playing chess. One of the few ways is being a coach, but most of us are not good enough to be a coach or don't like teaching.
But to some of us, it's a way to help mentally heal after being in a war. That's right, I'm talking about the brave men and women who have fought for their country.
Some of the men and women have to fight in wars and put their life on the line, as well as take others' lives. This is very hard on some people. These people come back from wars and have a hard time reinterring society. These men and women have different ways of handling it and working through it. Some do motocross, some do woodwork or other hobbies, and some play chess.
Chess is used for so many different things as well. It's used to teach, it's used to bring people together, and it's even used as a medication for mental illness.
Others like playing because of the competition, I know I love playing for trophies, Evan though I don't have a lot! Lol! I remember when I first joined an open, bullet tournament on chess.com, man, that was fun. I came in the top 100 out of 1,250 I believe, and man, I loved it!
When I started this blog I was thinking about how I could explain this because honestly, it's hard to blog, it is, I have spent quite a lot of time working on this blog, and it's been a lot of fun, but hard, this is another way people can use chess:
Inspiration.
That's right like all good bloggers know it's hard to write when you have writer's block. And unfortunately, I have that. That's why there have been fewer blog posts in the last few weeks, I tried so many things to get rid of it but nothing worked...... Until I played a blitz game. I know, I know, right now you're asking yourself "how does playing a blitz game help you with a blog especially because the blog isn't about chess?" Well, it is not very simple. I see more than a game. I see a way of life, I see moves that make me think, I see moves that require no thinking, I see fantastic moves, I see mistakes. That is another way I use chess. I use chess to help me focus and have ideas. Most of my blog topics come to me when I'm playing games, I know it may seem weird, but that's another way people use chess.
How do you use chess?
I got very inspired writing the blog above and decided to add this one below.
-- This is a mini blog --
Ahhh, when I look at a chess board, what do I see? Well, I see a way of life, I see a game that has been passed down for generations, I see it as a way to contact other people. I see the chess board as strong. Over 60,000 people a day join chess.com and yet, most people I meet don't know how to play, some know how the pieces move, but most don't know anything about it. I see chess as a game that can bring people together, it's a way for families to bond, it's a way for friends to teach each other, and it's a way to meet new people.
I also see 2 of the best chess players in the world fighting it out!
That's what I see on a chess board. What do you see?
