Hi there! @CDRED141 here with a new story! I hope you like it, this story is kid friendly, it is not based on a true story, this is a made up stroy. Thank you!

This is the story of a war veteran who is having a hard time with his after conflict. This is the story of David, T Herman.

David is a sergeant for the American Army darling WW2, he was in the battle of D-day, he is one of the few people who survives,

"Okay men! This is it, we are going to make history and help our country!"

Says David. The gate drop down, *smash*! It hits the ground! "Move move move!!" is all anybody can hear!

*boom!* Grenades and land mines are going off everywhere!

Sergeant David and his team are one the first divisions to land and fight! Him and 2 guys make it to a safe place to hide, then out of no where, *boom!* A hand grenades went off right where David and his 2 men were hiding, he is knock out, when he wakes up he's in the same spot, there was no bombs or gunshots. He was being helped by one of the medical men, "Dave " says Ben, (Ben is Davids younger brother) who is medical officer. "Ben" says David, " what happened to my men? Is everyone okay?". Then David looks at his legs,

They where gone! David looks at Ben and starts to cry, not in pain, ( David couldn't feel anything) but with sadness.

He was a discharged soldier, (that means he was given special permission from high command that he could leave the army). So he went back home to Kentucky.

A few months after the war ended he was still having trouble with being in society after having to shoot and kill people during the war, This happpen to a lot of people who where in the war.

He had no connection to the outside world, the only people he would let near him was his doctor, and his kids, his wife left him when he went in to war. one day he came into his living room and saw his 2 older kids playing a game of chess, he asked if he could play, he loved it! all he did for that week was play chess! It made him feel better, his doctor told him to try out a chess group he ran for soldiers who were hurt during the war, david and Ben both joined. They both love it. It really saved both of their lives. They played chess every for the rest of there lives.

                      The end.

I hope everyone likes this story. I worked very hard on it. I hope that when you finished reading it you took a minute to think about what I wrote.

See y'all next time!
