The Highest Accuracy Game I have Ever Played
I just played the "best" game that I have ever played (according to game review). I have never had game that lasted more than ten or so moves receive a game accuracy higher than about 92 or 93 percent, but today, all of that changed.
I am in the process of reaching my goal of 1900 rapid, and started today with a rating of 1863. I needed five wins to reach my goal, and I started out with the white pieces against a player that was rated 1885 before our game. I played 1. Nf3, and after 1... d5, I played 2. c4, hoping to imbalance the game. However, instead of the most critical 2...d4 or 2...dxc4, he played the "boring" e6, and we transposed to a line of the esteemed Tarrasch Defence, Two Knights Variation. A key idea in the Tarrasch Defence is that Black receives an isolated pawn on d5 in exchange for quicker development and active pieces. I actually think that it is a great opening, but if you decide to play it, you need to understand the dynamics of the position. My opponent probably just randomly stumbled apon this opening, and thus lost his isolated pawn on move fourteen, quickly followed by the one on b7. Note that I played Kh1 on move 13, because I wanted to take the pawn on d5, but assumed that I could not due to the fact that after 13. Nxd5 Nxd5 14. Bxd5 Bxd5 15. Qxd5, black could play 15...Bxh2+, winning my queen. However, my logic was flawed, as I didn't see that I could have played 15. Rd1! and win back the bishop. My opponent tried to attack me with just a queen and a bishop, but I correctly perceived that my king was completely safe, and after a few maneuvering moves, my opponent played 21...h5, which ran into the strange move Qd1, forking the bishop on d6, the queen on f3, and the pawn on h5 through the queen. Black didn't want to trade queens, and thus lost his pawn. He then attempted to take advantage of the open h-file, but ran into the brilliant Rxd6!!, overloading the queen, which was defending both the bishop and the rook on h5. After this my opponent resigned. I thought that my game was pretty nice, so I plugged it into game review and was astonished to find that it was given an accuracy score of 97.7. Thank you Lord for that wonderful achievement. Here's the game, along with some pictures to verify my assertion. I hope that you enjoyed this article, and will see ya'll again later.
