Solution for Russian Chess.com players?
Hello everyone
Since the start of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Chess.com has removed the Russian flag as part of its sanctions against Russia. The Russian flag was replaced with a plain gray flag, and clicking on it directs users to a page explaining the site's stance on the conflict. This decision seems reasonable in the context of the ongoing situation.
However, it's notable that while browsing the flags on Chess.com, users can still find flags for North Korea, Eritrea, and Afghanistan. This is surprising given North Korea's severe human rights violations, Eritrea's troubling human rights record, and the challenging situation in Afghanistan. While the Russo-Ukrainian war has involved war crimes on both sides, the inclusion of these flags on the site may seem inappropriate to many users.
