This is how you play the Caro Kann: 1. E4, C6, 2. D4, D5. Here you see that black has allowed white to have 2 pawns in the center but black battled black. Here there are many moves white can play to lead to different black moves if you know theory. White can play the Fantasy which is protecting the white pawn with a pawn. If you are black you shouldn’t take because then you have no center and a random c6 pawn and white has 2 pawns in the center. White gets easy development and black cannot get the knight to c6 so the knight so the knight has to go to a6 or d2 but a6 the knight is not in the center and d2 you have to move the bishop before you move the knight so the bishop isn’t blocked or you could fianchetto your bishop. But your c6 pawn is messing up your fianchetto. So don’t play the Fantasy Caro Kann. There is also the classical variation. This is where White plays Nc3. That can go into a lot of theory. But trade pawns and you’ll be fine. There is also the exchange variation. This is where white trades pawns. You can develop, castle and defend, and you will probably win. There is also the advanced variation. This is where white pushes his pawn. Black can play c5 and white has lots of problems. It doesn’t matter that black pushed his pawn twice and this is the board after c5.

White can take. But then black plays knight f6 then if white plays Nc3 then the bishop pins the knight.
White instead of playing Nc3, can also play f4. Then Black can play H4 bring his rook in and will most likely win.
