not sure what to do

i have been going throw somethings in school and i need some help.theres this boy and i think i might like him.i noe that he dose not like me but i still wish he did.i am scared that if i ask him out that he will say no and he will not be my friend anymore but it herts me inside to not ask him.we have been friends only for 3 years but i feel as if i have known him since birth.if you have anything to say about this plzzzzz tell me i would like to know what i should do.
