900 chess lovers and more at CAPECHECS chess tournament !

The 23rd edition of the CAPECHECS chess tournament has begun, and living it is a true pleasure. The aisles of the CCAS center are vibrant. It’s the fever of the first days. We pass each other, we smile, we hug, we kiss, happy to once again see so many familiar faces. CAPECHECS is a big family reunion, a gigantic gathering of cousins.

This event transcends the passion for chess. It takes it into a social dimension. It opens the doors to a sense of fraternity we wish could be universal. We know we are about to live a week inside our bubble, sealed off from all the world’s tensions. It is a deep breath and a gift we give ourselves in an ever more stressful daily life. The outside world can wait!

At the center, we let ourselves be carried away by the wind of emotions. We play, we may lose a game or two, or more, but in the end, we all win! Children wander through the aisles, their parents carefree. The elders stroll according to their thoughts. Do they dream of their own childhood? There is the Cap and the beach just a stone’s throw away. The sea has the gift of soothing us against all odds.

All the teams at the center are in perfect harmony. Know that nearly 80 people ensure that every cog runs smoothly: reception, room staff, drivers, kitchen, bar, communications, referees, and tournament management! If I have forgotten anyone, I send them heartfelt thanks.

Enjoy, savor, relish these 23rd National and International Encounters. And so CAPECHECS sails on. We are already at cruising speed. Be happy, live your dreams, and share your emotions!
