Capechecs Women Players : Sophie Millet comes as a neighbor
The Montpellier native Sophie Millet, six-time French champion, loves CAPECHECS. She has taken part in so many editions of the event. She remains faithful to it, even though she isn’t playing in any tournament in 2025.
"I’ve been coming to the Cap since I was a child, and it’s always a pleasure to see everyone again. The atmosphere is always so friendly, and even when I only come as a visitor, I’m happy to be here."
Nostalgia for the Trophy
"Maybe I’m a little nostalgic for the Karpov Trophy. It was really something in the Molière Hall. I remember people with banners supporting their players. It was a very special atmosphere for us, the players, when we walked into the arena."
931 players!
"It’s fantastic to see such enthusiasm. Chess has become very popular. You can feel it in all the tournaments, and especially at the Cap, which makes special efforts to welcome players. There’s the ‘Fil Rouge,’ which allows unlicensed players to take part in the event. There aren’t many tournaments in France that offer this opportunity."
