When to Sacrifice
When to sacrifice? A question that commonly comes up. Sometimes the sacrifice is temporary, as in the following example;
However, most of the time, and especially the higher level you get, it won't be this clear cut. A lot of times it can be a positional sacrifice where there is no immediate regain of material. Or maybe a pawn or two for a large initiative or attack. This also depends on the time control. For example, if it is an online blitz game, you normally don't have the time to calculate everything, so a lot of the time it is based off intuition. In a longer game, or an otb one, you will have more time to calculate it all out. I will now show you a game which has some important lessons.
