16-Jan-2021 Malaysia - Today is 16th January 2021, I sat down wondering to myself that tomorrow is the day of one the greatest minds that ever played chess left us - the one and only Bobby Fischer.  So in his honor let us look at the vibrant career and his impacts of Fischer thru my eyes .

1. The epic tale  of Fischer vs Spassky

If you ask me what Fischer is known for, it is definitely the amazing World Chess Championship of 1972 between Boris Spassky and the challenger Bobby Fischer. This series was tense with both in-game pressure as well as the outlining pressure of the USSR and US tensions during the time. There are many amazing masterpieces in this series however dubbed the 'match of the century' by some people game 6 or known to some as 'The Applause' it certainly captured people's attention.

2. Beating chess tournaments in dominating fashion

It should come as no surprise that Fischer's trophy case is filled with many amazing dazzles. From records such as in 1963/64 US Championship with 11 wins in 11 games, the only perfect score in the history of the tournament. Fischer is simply one of the amazing chess player in history. As a bonus this game here is one of the best game of his when he was only 13 years old against Donald Byrne. The game is simply an artwork of a game.

3. Fischer in pop culture

Apart from being well-known in chess, being the creator of Fischer  random chess (Chess 960) , Fischer's life also been made into the film industry. From documentaries such as Bobby Fischer Against the World and even to movies such as Searching For Bobby Fischer. Adding to that, even more recently there is a movie starting Tobey Maguire (yes! the Spiderman!) about Fischer's life called Pawn Sacrifice.

All in all, this were the moments I remember Bobby Fischer for. From a brilliant chess mastermind to a man on the run only 1 thing is certain: his-story and legacy will always live on.
