Sicilian Snare

The Sicilian is a popular reply to the usual 1. e4, and masters say that it is a strong defense and gives equality and even advantage to Black.  But Black is often warned against an early attack from White.  In short, don't use the opening unless you have studied it well.

In this 1949 match, Black fell in only 21 moves.  White's build-up is palpable, and yet his opponent seems to be lulled into some kind of false confidence, instead developing his pieces on the other side (queenside).  He is punished as a result.
