In this series of articles I am going to review some of chess programs of very positive experiences which used over recent period during my chess works.

Tarrach Chess GUI may be placed first, not by available features but due it's simplicity and 'easy to use' interface.

If we are looking for a simple game viewer with possibility to start analysis engine here and there, to save games with comments back to database, Tarrasch Chess GUI perfectly meets this expectations.

Although has it's own database format, it fully supports pgn database format. And not only that, it is far most simple program when it comes to entering the written comments into the existing game; all the user has to do, is to select move with mouse pointer and to start to type on keyboard. An excellent choice to create annotated game in pgn format, which can be used further for export or publish purposes.

Notation window is very clear and easy to follow up, even in condition of multiple sub variations and comments, lines are clearly arranged. And it supports all of modern UCI chess engines as well. It uses much less resources than any other program of same level, it is very fast in response and bug free.

Option to open multiple chess games, in different tabs, is another great feature, not seen in many chess programs available now days. I found this great when it comes to compare games played with same opening variation or even during updating of my repertoire file, when it becomes easy to switch between my 'repertoire' game and any other games of great interest for particular opening line.

As conclusion, I can strongly recommend Tarrasch Chess GUI to anyone who likes simplicity, clearness and  minimalism over countless (but never being used) options and crowded menus and toolbars.
