What Makes Chess Great?
Chess is a lifelong endeavor. I play it because unlike most other games, it's not a game of chance. It's just you against an opponent. Granted, you may get lucky if he makes a mistake, but it is up to you to take advantage of the mistake. Take Monopoly for example; you could be winning and lose because of the roll of the dice. Yahtzee is the same. Games of luck frustrate me. If I lose, I want it to be directly on me.
I like golf too because it's me that is in control. No luck. If I make a mistake I can't blame the dice.
Why do you play chess and find great about the game?
